So I got to spend the month of June up in Seattle area to do work for the Children’s museum again. I believe this is probably my 20th project I have done for them in the past 15 years.
It is a blessing to get to go on a work vacation and see friends and family!! Plus Seattle is having one of the hottest summers in history so normally the month of June can be rainy and cold but it was almost 80 to 90 degrees every day. That plus being walking distance to the beach and amazing views from our rental made it an amazing visit!!
So it was time to make some changes to the theatre in the museum. We wanted to create a feeling of an old grand theatre with red velvet curtains and gold accents. It turned out great! I used a lot of trompe l’oeil techniques to give it a grand feeling of standing center stage and looking out to an audience and balcony. In addition to painting the walls and backstage I completed four 8 x 8 backdrops on panels. I hope the kids get to enjoy the changes in scenery throughout the year as they make believe they are a pirate or a super hero or princess.
